I don't want to just disappear into a black hole like last time, so I just wanted to let you know that this channel is on hiatus while I have a rethink of the kind of content I'd like to put on here. hopefully it's going to be shorter than the last one. We have evolved many filters to keep our perceptions of the world organised. Without the filters we would perceive every tiny detail of sensory input. Thus, actual reality is like deafening roar and white noise, blinding visual overload and freezing cold. Everything would be overwhelming, rather like the sensations of some people when they come out of a near-death experience and their brain filters aren't working yet. It's probably a bit like our perception of reality at birth before the infant brain sorts out some rudimentary filters.

    Graham's number plus one. Or how about, Graham's number to the power of Graham's number times a googolplex, factorial, times Rayo's number...plus one. You can play this game all day and it is absolutely meaningless. Nice try. And don't you dare say Tree(3) is bigger. I haven't seen one mathematical proof that convinces me.

    consciousness as product of brain activity is an assumption, brain cells and any cells is an assumption, even brain is an assumption, did you experience your brain? i did not. same with particles, universe and so on. it's all just flimsy concepts or narratives, like "i live in society on the planet earth" when in direct experience there's no societies and no planets at all) Measuring consciousness is a fucking joke. It stays a mystery to itself, and assumption that stupid bald monkeys can MEASURE they don't know what exactly they measure, is just so fucking fun) Even that consciousness exist is an assumption, since no one ever experienced it) This is just a concept, assumption like everything else

    my solution to the single timeline poppop paradox is thus: imagine you have an empty room, you open the door and look inside. you check the room in such a manner that nothing can slip past you, and it's empty. you time travel 15 minutes to the past, and go into the room. you hear the door open, and a paradoxally repelling awareness field eviscerates you, smearing your remains across the room and all over the next room, as the 15 minutes younger you searches the room. your remains only become apparent to others as the paradoxally repelling awareness field is eliminated from the timeline, and someone noticing the remains no longer causes a paradox. i.e. your fellow time travel researcher finds you, and determines you were exploded by the time jump

    this is mostly pseudoscientific nonsense lmao. having a heart attack so you cant change the past? likely? on what data or basis lmao. also thats not what changing the past or paradoxes are lmao. going in the past like that would already violate conservation of energy since the past universe now has additional matter that didnt exist. also the past would already be changed just through your particles interacting with past particles. you killing grandpa is just something incidental and has no actual bearing on the paradox since its just some human interpretation but doesnt really concern any actual laws of the universe.

    Numbers are infinite. And not only that numbers contain an infinite number of infinite sets of numbers. Infact, there is an infinite number of sets between every consecutive pair of integers. So they best way to really see how big infinity truly is - just look at the whole number line. Their number (infinities) would be infinity ^ infinity or infinity to the power of infinity.

    What always bugs me about time travel is space. If I enter a time machine and go 24 hours to the past, the place in space now occupied by Earth would have been empty at that time. I would end up in the vacuum of space. Everything is moving through space every single moment

  • @thomasschon
    @thomasschon Місяць тому

    Let's hope there's a second arrow of time because they say the past still exists, so my future is someone else's past and so on. Otherwise, there can't be such a thing as free will. But if there's some room for a quantum flux that makes things turn out a bit differently, it will add up. That means that if you went back 2000 years, our history wouldn't be the same as we know it. The great asteroid that eradicated the dinosaurs might have missed the Earth, and so on. The further back you go, the more changes have been building up. If you were able to reverse both arrows of time, you would be able to find 'your' past, but as you travel back, the other arrow keeps progressing its timeline no matter what direction you go.

    It makes me smile that 7 years ago we were wondering about fusion energy and AI in the centuries to come. And now, in the middle of 2024, we already had the first 1:1 fusion reaction and we are actively living with AIs. Only 7 years. Not centuries. That's brilliant. Maybe I'm stretching what we accomplished and yet, here we are.

    time isn't real. the universe is a chain of events. what we consider time is just the rate of change of two chains of events in relation to each other. another way to look at it: as seen from the target universe, you pop out of nowhere for no reason - but an event without a cause cannot occur.

    It is literally mathematically and logically impossible to go backwards in time. It would require more than infinite energy and the mere concept results in a bunch of paradoxes. It is not only impossible it logically doesn't even make sense as a concept. It is obviously impossible. The more you try to think about it, the less sense it even makes.
